What if what looks like denim… isn’t?

At Kingpins Amsterdam, April 15–16, 2026, Tonello unveils Denim Illusion, a collection designed to challenge perception and redefine authenticity in garment finishing.

At first glance, the pieces evoke classic worn jeans. Faded surfaces, natural creases, whiskers, abrasions, even signs of breakage. Every visual cue suggests a familiar story of time and use. But the moment you look closer, or simply touch the fabric, something shifts. A new perception takes shape.

This is not traditional denim. It is a new interpretation that captures its visual language, translating texture, depth and lived-in character into unexpected materials and processes.

Each garment becomes a canvas for transformation, moving through indigo tones and earthy shades. The palette feels grounded yet surprising, balancing heritage references with a contemporary edge.

The journey begins with color.

Using DyeMate, Tonello applies indigo through a controlled low-temperature process, creating a stable and responsive base. Alongside these pieces, ready-to-dye garments developed with Sulfur Essence combine sulfur dyes and indigo to reproduce the complexity of discharged and overdyed looks.

From here, technology shapes perception.

THE Laser 2.0 introduces precision-driven detailing, recreating wear patterns, folds and texture with striking realism. Ozone technologies complete the process. The patented OBleach system achieves authentic bleaching effects without hazardous chemicals, while static ozone with the O-Zone cabinet enables localized fading, sun-worn nuances and smooth tonal transitions.

Part of the collection explores more vibrant yet balanced tones through Core, Tonello’s nebulization technology. Applicable across all machines, it allows special dyeing processes with reduced liquor ratios, opening new creative and responsible possibilities.

The result is a visual paradox. A garment that doesn’t rely on traditional fabric identity, yet fully expresses its aesthetic codes.
