Great things are rarely achieved by one person. They are usually accomplished by a group of people, and when everyone is committed to the overall goal, teams move faster, are more innovative, and are more successful!
At Tonello, we see this every day. And that’s why every day, is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our people.

Today, we’re leaving the floor to Andrea Costa, part of Tonello’s spare parts department.

How long have you worked at Tonello and what role do you play there?

I’ve been working at Tonello for more than 25 years. My role has always been to travel around, even though that has changed in recent years. In fact, I’ve moved to the assistance and service department, that is, to the sale of spare parts.

I mainly deal the process of offering spare parts, retrofits on Tonello machines, and Tonello technologies.

In any case, even this job allows me to stay in contact with our customers. I am fascinated by them, they are all good people who have always treated me well and with respect, especially when I go to visit them. More than customers, they are friends!

In just a few words, tell us about your story in Tonello.

Sure, it’s been a dynamic and stimulating road that has allowed me to grow and learn many things.

What does your work mean to you? And Tonello company?

For me, work has almost become a game: the fact that I know all the machines so well allows me to test them with extreme ease and tranquility. Work is synonymous with people, and therefore with customers: it’s important to offer them the maximum support, resolving their problems, always trying to offer them new and better solutions.

Tonello is a company rich in qualities (even though, like all realities, there are some defects!) It is a very serious company, consolidated over many years, and the customers realize this. We are on the spot: we know that innovation is a factor that cannot be ignored, and for this reason we are continually searching for new technological solutions to put in place. The flaw I alluded to is that sometimes it is difficult for some offices to respond to the needs of other departments. But the willingness to do our best is never lacking!

How is your relationship with your colleagues? Is “team work” a dream or a reality?

I’ve never found fault with my colleagues, except for one ex-agent who made me lose my temper a long time ago. Anyway, I get along with everyone and I’m very lucky: they say I’m nice, so it’s easy to like me! 😂

The team work is an absolute reality. For example, if you could sneak into our department you would immediately breathe in a positive atmosphere: we are a great group, very closely-knit.

Do you have any particular anecdotes to tell?

The most exhilarating moments lead me back to the time I was travelling. During one trip, my assistant was a young Muslim man, who, every day, took out his carpet (musallah) to pray. I, who had to perform our work quickly, one day decided to hide it from him. He looked around for it desperately, and when he realized that I was the one who hid it, he started laughing. Obviously, I then gave it back to him.

What should Tonello do to promote growth?

I think we are already doing a lot: we are strong, we have spirit and passion. I believe that at this rate, we’ll go farther and farther!

What do you think are the Tonello’s greatest strengths and weaknesses?

Their main strength lies in the group: all the offices have a drive to win, and passion is not lacking. The biggest risk, as for any organization, is slowing down and taking things easy. We cannot afford to slow or stop, we have to move forward, and above all, travel a lot.

Recently, Tonello has tried to define its reference values: what do you think of them?

I perceive them to be real, especially with regards to the value of “people”: if it we reach a certain result, even in terms of turnover, it’s thanks to them. The values are applied in everyday situations, and I believe that everyone here has a great sense of responsibility.

What do the words sustainability and reliability mean to you?

Reliability is very important: the customer sees a lot of himself in our machines, and this value makes a difference. Our Research Center is an important point: there our customers have immediate feedback on the potential of our machines, and above all, they can test them themselves.

Sustainability is at the base of all our innovations: it is a fact that with our technologies we save resources, especially in terms of water.

Of these different values, which one do you relate to the most?

Passion: if a person does not put passion into what he does, he goes nowhere. I come to work with a smile on my face because I love my job. And it is thanks to this passion that I can welcome and complete new challenges and assignments.
